王羊Emerson Young
王羊工作和生活在北京。本科就读于伦敦大学亚非学院社会人类学专业,研究生就读于⻢兰欧尼巴黎校区,时装设计专业。回国后创立了FRIED AIR炒空气工作室。王羊的创作材料多为布料、空间以及身体在其中的移动轨迹,曾在上海k11举办沉浸式艺术展览 His Child,2018年在纽约参与了⻘年艺术家艺术实践驻地项目并展出成果。除了艺术家身份外,王羊还为艺术家设计演唱会服装以及戏剧服装,并为多家媒体平台、文化机构和艺人进行艺术指导和担任艺术顾问。
 
Emerson works and lives in Beijing. Graduated from SOAS BA Social Anthropology, and Marangoni(Paris) Fashion Design MA, she founded FRIED AIR studio in 2016. She works with fabric, space and makes people move. Held immersive exhibition His Child in K11 Chi Gallery Shanghai, participated in art practice residency programs in New York, designed bespoke garments for artist concerts, while working in collaboration with media, companies and celebrities as art director and consultant.

艺术家自述
《被装饰的身体》是王羊正在进行的《如何长得像个艺术家》这个项目的阶段性展示。通过视频、仪式和装置的组合,王羊尝试理解当代个体能动性和社会结构的关系。如何通过日常生活中的自我表演和物件来构建个体身份?这种主观构建与飞速变化的通俗文化中的刻板印象在使用什么频率互动着?被设计后的身份与身体的关系是什么?
 
就像书本可以用来装饰房间一样,艺术可以装饰人的身体。艺术类行为和对于艺术形式的模仿,越来越多的被用来销售本质区别非常小的商品。相同逻辑下,个体身份可以被用同样的形式包装和销售。那么在这样的情境中,目的还重要吗?衍生品和艺术本身要如何区分呢?
 
艺术家已经不再是行动中的身体,越来越多的被包装后,艺术家已经变成了一个品牌或者标语,变成了一种可供消费的商品。
 
General Artist Statement
The Body Adorned is a periodic presentation of Emerson’s ongoing projectHow to look like an artist? Through an assemblage of video, ritual andinstallations, Emerson aims to study the contemporary transformation of therelationship between structure and agency. How does individuals cultivatepersonal identities through performances and objects? How does such cultivationfunction amounts the critical gaze through social stereotypes and changinglandscape of contemporary culture? How does form affect the body?
 
Just as books can decorate a room, art can decorate the body. Artisticbehaviours and simulations of art forms are increasingly used to distinguishmarket products, they can equally be used to distinguish a person. Doesintention matter here? How do you differentiate derivatives and appreciationsfrom genuine actions of art?
 
The artist is no longer a body in action, the artist is becoming becomesan ideological and visual brand, or a commercialised product of our time.

闫禹霏希望以服装为载体传达一种特定时期文化交流的产物,从哲学角度分析研究从艺术角度落地,讲述了一个她心中的美好时代。即将在《敏捷于右岸》展览展出的时尚设计作品《怀疑主义者》作品主要以黄色、灰色、黑色为主,在简单的色彩中用不同的工艺和制作方法营造了一种独具风味的中国风。
Charlotte Yan hopes that fashion design could be a cultural product for a special time, her design is telling a beautiful inner stories from philosophy studying to art practice.  In will show her fashion design work “Skepticism”. This series is mainly used simple colours, such as yellow, gray and black, in a different making processes to create a special Chinese style.
